  • Places the camera sensors at the proper backfocus distance for the 8” RASA for pinpoint stars across the entire field of view.

  • Made of machined aluminum with black anodized finish.

Mirrorless cameras are spreading like wildfire in the astroimaging community—and for good reason. When paired with Celestron’s groundbreaking 8” Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt Astrograph (RASA), you can achieve spectacular deep-sky astronomical images.

So what makes a mirrorless camera the perfect match for RASA? First, the compact camera body provides minimal obstruction when placed on the front of the RASA optical tube. Second, the sensitive imaging chip helps capture every bit of stunning detail that the RASA optical brings in.

If you’d like to use your Canon mirrorless camera with the 8” RASA, this adapter is a must-have accessory. Using the camera’s integrated bayonet mount, it attaches securely to the front of RASA. What’s more, this adapter places the camera’s sensor at the precise backfocus distance for optimal image sharpness.

PLEASE NOTE:

#93406 Canon Mirrorless Camera Adapter for RASA 8Is compatible with Canon EOS M200, EOS M100, and EOS M10 modelsIs NOT compatible with Canon EOS R/RP/Ra, EOS M6/M5/M3, EOS M50

You can still use an incompatible camera model with the RASA 8, but you will need to purchase custom camera adapters from a third party rather than using the Celestron adapters. However, it is important to note that It will be difficult (if not impossible) to create an adapter for one of these incompatible mirrorless cameras without causing some vignetting(i.e. light loss) at the corners of the frame. This is because the camera adapter will need to be designed narrower (i.e. with a smaller diameter) than the Celestron adapter to prevent the mechanical interference, which will block some of the light collected by the RASA 8 from reaching the edges of the sensor. Also, keep in mind that the RASA was designed with a 32mm usable image circle, so any Sony or Canon mirrorless camera that uses a full-frame sensor (i.e. 43mm diagonal) will have some vignettingand performance loss at the edge of the frame regardless of the camera adapter with which it is used
